CLA and reprints desk provide NHS health professionals with streamlined ordering system for journal articles

  • NHS staff can now get the information they need, faster than ever before
  • New Licence Plus Document Delivery tool offers simple on-demand access to copyright-cleared journal articles

CLA and Reprints Desk are delighted to announce the release of the new Licence Plus Document Delivery tool which enables NHS library and knowledge services to request copyright-fee paid journal articles for use by healthcare staff across the NHS.

In response to customer need in the NHS, CLA has developed a digital Licence Plus service in partnership with Reprints Desk who are highly experienced in providing a journal article ordering service to a number of corporate customers including those in the Pharmaceutical sector.

The new service offers NHS library staff a quicker, easier way to order journal articles from Reprints Desk. Amongst the many benefits that the service provides is instant information about the availability of each article, including those that have previously been supplied so that libraries do not need to order them again. These can then be easily shared with healthcare staff.

James Bennett, CLA Head of Rights & Licensing, commented:

“The new Licence Plus service provides a tangible service that adds value and streamlines healthcare content provision. We are delighted to be able to offer the NHS this new service which will provide easier access to medical research information in digital formats.”

Scott Ahlberg, Chief Operations Officer at Reprints Desk, commented:

“We are honoured to partner with CLA to increase research efficiency across the UK’s largest health and hospital system. With Licence Plus Document Delivery, NHS users can spend less time on literature acquisition tasks and more time on what matters most to their patients: invaluable health research and discovery.”

Helen Bingham, NHS Library and Knowledge Services Lead, commented:

“There are 180 NHS trust-based library and knowledge services in England. National NHS organisations like NICE, Public Health England and Health Education England also have teams of library and knowledge specialists. They all need to quickly source articles for clinicians, researchers and managers, without worrying whether they have previously been requested elsewhere in the NHS, or are Open Access, and therefore may already be shared at no extra cost. This new tool streamlines library workflows and helps us obtain best value for the NHS from the annual allocation of articles available to us under our Copyright Licence.”
