The words of the book are protected by copyright.  In order to make a copy – in this case a recording – you need permission from the rightsholder.  This licence gives you that permission, covering you to make such recordings on a ‘blanket’ basis – i.e. you do not need to ask for permission each time.  The licence fees will go back to the creator – so they can keep writing more great books!
